You wish. My woman was terrified because of you. Mental distress alone–five million.”

The words had barely left my mouth when sirens blared in the distance. Several enforcer cruisers marked with wolf emblems pulled up fast along the curb.

Car doors slammed. A dozen uniformed enforcers in silver gear poured out, moving sharp and clean.

Leading them was Wade Corbyn. He rushed over, slightly out of breath. “Mr. Eaton, sorry we’re late. We came as fast as we could after your call.”

I wasn’t in the mood for small talk. My face was blank. “Handle it.”

Without another word, I bent down, slid one arm behind Deanna’s back and the other under her knees, and lifted her off the ground.

Her lashes trembled, but she didn’t fight me. She just leaned her head weakly against my shoulder.

The fragile sight of her broke something in me. I set her gently in the passenger seat, then walked around the hood and slid behind

the wheel.

Before starting the car, I lowered the window and glanced at the bald man being held down by the enforcers. “I don’t accept a settlement.”

Then I hit the gas and sped toward the private hospital run by my pack.

When we arrived, staff was already waiting at the door. They rushed us straight into a VIP room.

The hospital dean himself arranged for a CT scan and a full checkup.

After the exams, he returned with the results. “Ms. Wiley isn’t seriously hurt. Just a mild concussion. She’ll need two days of rest in the hospital.”

I gave a short nod, crushed out the cigarette in my hand, and waited until the smoke on me had faded. Only then did I step into her

room.

Deanna’s POV:

After taking the medicine, I half–lay on the bed. My body felt lighter, my head clearer.

It was only then that my mind finally caught up.

I suddenly realized–from the crash site all the way to the hospital–Luis had carried me in his arms.

And the whole way, people had been watching.

Heat crept across my face. No wonder the nurses and doctors had looked at me with those curious, knowing eyes.

The door opened. A tall figure stepped inside.

1/3

Спартет од

Luis walked slowly to the bed, his eyes locked on me, holding back something heavy.

Finally, he spoke, “Are you an idiot? What were you thinking, spacing out while driving?”

I wanted to tell him I was fine, but his sharp words hit me like a slap. My throat tightened. My body went stiff.

It was my first car accident. Worse, the other driver had been a fierce thug who tried to scare me.

Instead of comforting me, Luis called me stupid.

If it weren’t for that dumb radio interview, I wouldn’t have gotten distracted.

If I hadn’t been distracted, none of this would have happened.

The thought made my chest ache; hurt wrapped tight around me.

My lips pressed hard together, and I whispered through a choking voice.

“I know I caused you trouble today. I’m sorry, Mr. Eaton. It won’t happen again.”

Luis’s POV:

Her distant way of addressing me made me frown.

I didn’t scold her badly, but why did she sound like she wanted to cut me off?

I was only trying to remind her to drive safely.

She get lucky this time.

What about next time?

Hearing that crash over the phone chilled me to the bone.

Worry hit me like a wave, and I could barely breathe.

While I was driving, my wolf kept pushing me to go faster and faster.

I ran more red lights than I can count.

I only managed to relax when I saw her safely inside the car; the tight knot in my chest finally eased.

I sighed and softened my voice. “Why are you crying? It wasn’t me who hit you.”

She pressed her lips tight. “I didn’t cry. Did you see me crying?”

I saw the lingering redness at the corner of her eyes. My fingers moved on their own and pinched her earlobe gently.

It felt soft to my touch and a little cool against my skin.

I let a helpless smile tug at my mouth. “I saw with both of my eyes. People might think I’m bullying you.”

“You are bullying me.” She turned around, but her eyes were still wet.

2/3

My Adam’s apple bobbed and patiently coaxed her.

“Ms. Wiley, you want investment? I wire it. You want the Muses contract? I immediately brought it to you. Where else are you going to find a man this obedient?”

She glanced at me with mock resentment. “And you shouted at me?”

I shouted at her? That’s what she called it?

Women’s logic is something else.

I bent down and planted both hands on the bed on either side of her. I pulled her into my arms and dropped my voice lower.

“Fine, fine. I commit an unforgivable crime.
