Deanna\u2019s POV:<\/p>\n
\u201cMy head hurts. The truck had cargo that couldn\u2019t be delivered because of you crashing into my truck. You owe me for lost work, for injury, for emotional damage\u2026<\/p>\n
The bald man rubbed his hands. He looked me over, then my Mercedes. Finally he decided. \u201cAt least 200,000 dollars.\u201c\u201d<\/p>\n

The driver wasn\u2019t hurt. The truck looked fine. He was asking for a fortune for one day\u2019s wage.<\/p>\n

\u201cGive me the address.\u201d Luis\u2019s voice cut cold through the phone.<\/p>\n

I heard quick, heavy footsteps on Luis\u2019s end of the line.<\/p>\n
\u201cGet in the car and lock the doors right now. Don\u2019t talk to him until I get there. Wait for me. And\u2013don\u2019t be afraid.\u201d<\/p>\n

The bald man heard the noise. He turned around and froze, his hand still raised.<\/p>\n
Luis walked straight to him and grabbed the bald man\u2019s hand on the window.<\/p>\n
I didn\u2019t see the move clearly\u2013I only heard a crisp snap\u2013and then the man screamed like his heart was being ripped out.<\/p>\n
\u201cAhhhh-! It hurts! Help! He\u2019s killing me!\u201d<\/p>\n
Luis had twisted the man\u2019s arm into a strange angle and thrown him to the ground. He curled up on the pavement.<\/p>\n
Luis bent and tapped the car window once.<\/p>\n
When I saw him, the tight knot of fear in my chest finally loosened.<\/p>\n
I fumbled with the lock and opened the door. My legs were weak; I almost fell.<\/p>\n
Luis was quick\u2013he steadied my waist with one hand.<\/p>\n
He glanced at the cut on my temple and frowned. \u201cHow did you get hurt?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
Before I could answer, the bald man struggled to his feet.<\/p>\n
He clutched his mangled arm, anger and fear filled his eyes, but he still tried to shout, \u201cWho are you? You broke my arm! Today I\u2019ll fight you-\u201d<\/p>\n
Luis stared at him coldly. \u201cWant me to break the other arm too?\u201d<\/p>\n
He backed off a little but still barked out, \u201cSir, she hit my truck first. I asked her for 200,000 dollars, and she refused. Now you\u2019ve gone and broken my arm\u2013I didn\u2019t do anything, and you\u2019re bullying me\u2013this is not fair!<\/p>\n
